Manuscript editing covers a wide scope of functions, from correcting grammar, punctuation, spelling errors, subject-verb agreement, tenses, word usage, paragraphing, and omissions, to substantive revisions that rectify points of confusion, inconsistencies, and the overall construction of a paper. For the former, a fee per-page is charged. However, the latter, which constitute a "major overhaul," would involve an hourly charge. In either case, you will find the fee very reasonable.
All editing is done on a first-come-first-served basis. Therefore, it is to your advantage to submit your work as early as possible prior to your deadline. In order to preserve your credibility, I will take particular care not to use words or constructions that are above or beyond your original work unless you indicate a desire for such.
I have made every effort to create a process as simple, fast, and economic as possible for my student clients. You may even wonder how you managed without it!
The following are the steps in the basic process:
| 1.
You submit* your work to me for editing, indicating your required deadline. E-mail submissions with your work attached as a file can be sent using this e-mail link:
FPSherrick@aol.com As mentioned above, in order to ensure the acceptance of your order, your work should be submitted as soon as possible prior to your required deadline. * Submissions can be made most efficiently via the Internet. Simply attach your paper to your e-mail as a file (preferably in MS WORD format) or copy and paste it into the body of your e-mail.
| 2.
I will review your paper and (1) determine whether my schedule allows me to honor your deadline, and (2) whether a fee per-page applies or a substantive revision is required. I will advise you of both, generally within forty-eight hours. I will also provide an estimate of the editing fee.
| 3.
You would then notify me whether you wish to proceed with the editing.
| 4.
If you opt to proceed, I will send you a sample portion of your edit within a short time. You would determine whether it meets your expectations, notify me of your acceptance, and authorize its completion.
| 5.
If you authorize completion of the edit, full payment will be due prior to my sending the completed work. Your edit will be forwarded upon receipt of payment.
